CU3 for System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1 is released #SysCtr

Just before the release of System Center 2012 R2 which is expected half of October, Microsoft releases CU3 for System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1. This update adds support for Windows 8.1-based client computers in Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1. Windows 8.1 is added to the supported platform list for the following features:

  • Software distribution
  • Software update management
  • Compliance Settings

In addition to support for Windows 8.1 and Windows server 2012 R2 this cumulative update provides fixes for the following components:

  • Operating System Deployment (OSD)
  • Windows PowerShell
  • Software Distribution
  • Windows Intune
  • Endpoint Protection
  • Reporting
  • Software Updates

As mentioned it might worth considering to skip the installation of CU3 since R2 will be released October 18th 2013.

Cumulative Update 2 for Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 available for download! #sysctr

Thanks to my colleague Tom Klaver for pointing me the fact Cumulative Update 2 (CU2) for System Center Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 has been released. CU2 contains fixes for Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1 (SP1).

McAfee causes Boot Image action problems Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 #sysctr

UPDATE 04/02/2013:

Microsoft has updated AV exclusions for Configuration Manager 2012: http://blogs.technet.com/b/systemcenterpfe/archive/2013/01/11/updated-system-center-2012-configuration-manager-antivirus-exclusions-with-more-details.aspx

During a side-by-side migration to Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 we noticed no default boot images we available in the Admin console. Adding the boot images manually we encountered the following error “You can not import this boot image. Only finalized boot image are supported”
