Greatness of a small country: Client-, Data- and Cloud Management

Today was exciting day for the Dutch community as the new website of System Center User Group Netherlands was launched. Theme of the new website is “Dutch Clouds” by Dutch famous painters (1400 – 1600 century) with a wink of the past and glimpse to the future cloud developments.


The renewed website is part of a range of new initiatives to better serve the Dutch community and beyond. In addition, the organization of the user group undergoing renewal with IT-pro’s Helmer Zandbergen (MCT), James van den Berg (MVP), Robert Smit (MVP) and Ronny de Jong (MCT) and communication/organization brain Brenda Kager.

As mentioned the user group has the ambition to better serve the community with various (new) initiatives, meetings, guest speakers, webcasts and intensify cooperation with various User Groups by organizing joint events like Experts Live and System Center Universe 2014.

How to manage your WordPress site hosted on Windows Azure by FTP

Windows Azure is a great cloud platform to host your WordPress site(s). But how easy is it to manage? From infratructure perspective you’ve the Windows Azure Management Portal available to monitor traffic, scale your site, set your domain names and bindings.


From Application perspective you’ve the default WordPress Management console to add themes, install plugins and manage comments, etc.


But what if you need to make some changes to your WordPress site which can’t be performed by the GUI? Let’s say you want to upload a theme which exceeds the default upload upload_max_filesize directive ? You can’t modify the php.ini by GUI. FTP(S) is your friend!!

Windows Live Essentials replaced by Windows Essentials 2012!

Good news for those who blogging! Microsoft released an new version of Windows Essentials, Windows Essentials 2012. The software suite is especially popular because of Live Writer which enables you publish blogs quick and efficiently.


Significant changes are an updated version of Windows Live Writer, Windows Live Mesh is replaced by SkyDrive and Messenger by Skype. A complete overview of the release notes can be found here.
